The day at a glance

The first hour crosses the Oxnard Plain, among the most productive vegetable and strawberry ground in the United States and still farmed hard right up to the edge of the city. After Point Mugu the farming stops and the rest of the day is the Malibu coast.

Worth looking up for

  • Final day down the coast through Ventura and Malibu into Santa Monica.
  • One of the two easiest days for climbing, at 1,661 ft.

What to watch for

  • Pacific Coast Highway traffic is heavy and fast, especially through Malibu on a Saturday. Be prepared to ride two-by-two, take the lane, and stay together.
  • Only real climb is mi 38.6–39.3, 185 ft at 5.1%.
